Same Great Classic Sound.
Refsworld reviews the new Fox Eclipse.
Look and Feel.
You can’t help but smile when you open up the wrapper.
Holding the Fox Eclipse is a pleasure. You can clasp it in your palm comfortably, essential whilst sprinting up the park.
The curves and unconventional curved backend makes an instant impression.
The whistle has a sleek mouthpiece, not too different from the FOX Classic
A little smaller that the classic and marginally bigger than the FOX Mini.
The mouth guard that has been incorporated into the mouthpiece is a gem.
For those of us who have used the Classics Mouth Guard (CMG) whistle will welcome this sleek counter sunk design.
When you pop the whistle in your mouth it feels comfortable, the sleek contours underneath the whistle seem to mould to your bottom lip.Your teeth feel the soft CMG as you brace in it position.
The Sound
The Eclipse has a distinct clear piercing sound. It delivers a twin toned shrill that picks up a pulsating effect the longer you blow it.
The pitch of the Eclipse is noticeably higher that the Classic.
The Classic has a mellow rounded sound, you can hear three tones when blowing it. The clear cut unmistakable shrill of the Eclipse will cut through any crowd noise.
It seems to offer a little more backpressure that the FOX Classic.
A good mouthful of air will give a very long blast.
This enables you to sound off a heap of blast and have heaps of ammunition left in the tank.
Players on our test pitch said they could hear a massive difference between the two whistles, The Eclipse “loud and clear” the Classic “softer sound”.
It’s fair to say when officiating in close proximity to other officials Player will easily discern the difference.
Ease of Use
The Eclipse does not require too much effort to get a good sound. (To blow any whistle effectively1B5CxlBo0JA
Like with any whistle, the more you put it the more the players complain.
It takes just a little more effort to get a whopping blast, but after having used it for 2-3 minutes you get quickly enjoy the feel in your mouth and hand.
